Marianne is truly the best! My son and I had I think had every issue breast feeding that is possible. I saw several lactation consultants and not till we met Marianne did our problems get fixed. She is one of the nicest people I know and if we hadn't met her, we would've lasted 4 months breast feeding instead 14 months!!! Thank you Marianne!! We love you Jackie B
Breastfeeding is one of the most amazing bonds you can build with your baby, but that doesn't mean it doesn't come without its challenges! Marianne is absolutely amazing at what she does - troubleshoot and perfect the art of breastfeeding. I had a few snags (sore nipples, thrush, and milk supply challenges after an illness), and Marianne worked wonders. With one quick latch fix and a few simple steps to overcome the thrush and decreased milk supply, I was breastfeeding with ease! I am 5 months in now, and breastfeeding is so special and second-nature that I have no plans of weaning my little one any time soon. Without Marianne's support, I may not have made it through the hiccups, so I am forever grateful for her!! Bre. G
Back in April of 2010, I had my first baby, a daughter we named Leah. She was just perfect in every way, but any time her eyes were open, she was screaming. She couldn't latch on when breastfeeding, and we were both getting pretty frustrated (especially since she was 9.5 pounds at birth and ALWAYS hungry). I was pretty overwhelmed when I found out from her pediatrician that she had just about every food intolerance known to mankind (soy, dairy, acidic foods, etc.). If Dr. Lieber's office hadn't referred us to you, I have absolutely no doubt I would have decided to just quit breastfeeding and hang my head in defeat.
After one visit to Marianne’s Breastfeeding Support group and a 30-minute consult with her, our whole world changed. We kept breastfeeding until Leah was 14 months old. Now she is a happy, healthy, super-smart, STRONG 4-year-old getting ready to start Pre-K. I know it helped her development (and our bond) immeasurably to keep nursing for that time.
So....fast forward to today. I left my (unfulfilling) corporate IT job back in September 2010 to stay home with Leah for a while. I have been teaching fitness classes part-time for these past couple of years, and that has been a good outlet. I know that you planted a seed when I met you, though. I remember driving home from that first appointment and thinking, "so Marianne just did more to change people's lives in about one hour than I EVER will in my entire corporate career". I knew my career path was doomed.
I have decided, in my late thirties, to apply to Nursing school here in Oklahoma. I'm going to get my BSN and sit for my RN in a couple of years. I have a goal in mind that, one day, I hope to take the Lactation Consultant's exam so I can help new moms too. I truly hope to walk into a room someday and meet "me" (a new mom with a screaming baby and that desperate, exhausted look in her eyes) and help her find a solution! It may take many years, but I really have a desire to meet this goal. Tracy P
Hi Marianne. I just wanted to let you know how much you mean to me. I have been meaning to write you for months now. With out your experience I would not have been able to nurse my little girl. She refused to latch and you came to me 2 weeks after birth and you told me to hold the faith and my baby would learn. I trusted in you and sure enough my baby learned to latch in her 4th week. You were there for me during those exhausting days and nights with my reflux baby and supported me so much with every question I had and even allowed me to bring my baby for weekly weigh ins. You were always there! You are so dedicated and you deserve so much for helping first time mothers like me. You gave me the gift of being able to nurse my baby. For that I cannot thank you enough!
